About Our Church

Who We Are

This brief mission statement of Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church reflects what we strive for in our church life and much of what we have accomplished in the past:

  • An anti-segregation building policy in the 1870's
  • Resettlement of refugees after World War II
  • Standing with the inclusive More Light movement beginning in the 1970's
  • Involvement with the Lincoln Park Community Shelter starting in 1984 and continuing through the recent shelter redevelopment and housing

Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church Vision

With God’s help, we can do great things! At Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church we strive to demonstrate the open, inclusive and accepting love of Jesus Christ. We pray, sing, study and worship in old ways and new, inviting families of all sorts – singles, couples, and children – to nurture their faith in a growing and vibrant congregation. We promote God’s justice and peace in our community and in our world. We seek the call of God to the next big thing and pray mightily that we receive the gifts to heed the invitation.

    .

About the Presbyterian ChurchGod comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.
