Join Us for Sunday Worships at 10:30 AM

What to expect If You Are Visiting For the First Time

Intimate - we are a small congregation and there is plenty of room at our table for more;

Relevant - you will not hear the sermons your parents heard; and

Meaningful - what we do in worship connects to the rest of our lives.

The hope is that what happens in worship energizes us and prepares us to live in the world throughout the week as followers of Jesus.

Sunday Service

December 14 at 10:30 am

This Sunday we will light the third Advent candle of JOY. In the years of the early church when many of our liturgical traditions were set, including the colors with which we festoon the sanctuary colors were set for the seasons. Many pious Christians proudly proclaim that their church shows no signs of a secular, pagan pallet - only the deep purple of penitence and longing. It’s not a coincidence that Advent and Lent use the same color, in fact both seasons involve/d fasting or giving something up in the early church.

Then at the halfway point we switch to pink! From the deep dark merlot - to a crisp and cheerful rosé, for all of you color enthusiasts and wine lovers. Why?

Again, we can look to the early church. The third Sunday of Advent is sometimes called the Gaudent Sunday. Gaudent is a verb with Latin roots meaning “they take pleasure” or “they rejoice.” The pink candle symbolizes a break from the “Bleak Mid-Winter” to delight, take pleasure. This Sunday we remember that while we are awaiting the Christ child, there are signs of joy and delight all around us. Just as we must work for and seek out HOPE and PEACE, so too must we seek out and work for JOY

Communion Service

Communion is celebrated each month, usually on the first Sunday and children are included.  Lincoln Park Presbyterian church celebrates open communion and all are invite to share in this celebration.

Family Sundays

Family Sundays take place every 4-6 weeks. Family Sundays are a time when we ask the children to stay for the whole worship service and we try to do some creative and movement oriented activities in worship.

We want our children to experience worship and understand how to worship while they are children so we don’t just expect them to know when they get too old for Sunday school.

Welcoming Church

Everyone is welcome and we really mean it.  We value diversity, including age, abilities, cultures, race, gender identification, sexuality, class, marital status, and anything else that might keep you from being accepted elsewhere.  Please leave time after worship to connect with our congregation and have food together
